Turn of the 20th Century French jewels are magical, it is called La Belle Époque for a very good reason. These splendid French ear bobs pair chunky old mine cut paste stones with glittering rose cut diamonds to magnificent effect. Each earring features a generously-sized paste in an eight-prong setting of sterling silver, the setting allows for a great deal of light refraction and the paste dazzles with rainbows. A wee rose cut diamond crowns the paste, set in a pinched silver bezel. The sterling settings sit atop 18k gold lever back earrings with French hallmarks on the levers. So much glamour and sparkle, yet easy to wear, these earrings are perfect for any occasion. Circa 1900.
Paste gems are leaded glass gems formed in molds and then polished to resemble diamonds or gemstones. With better quality pastes facets could even be cut and polished like natural gems.
Details.....The earrings measure 0.56" long and 0.31" wide. In Very Good Antique Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique jewels; we consider it a part of their charm.
